Hi!
Every once and a while (fairly frequently), a beauty campaign or product piques my interest and I can't help but buy into the hype and try something out. At least, if I share my experience though, you can benefit too!
Recently, I'd been hearing that Cover Girls ad campaign with Drew Barrymore was one of the most successful ever and that their Lash Blast mascara was flying off the shelves. I was intrigued. I happened to be in a Shoppers one day and thought about checking out the newest addition to the line- the Smokey Eye double-ended cream eyeshadow. The colours just looked so fresh and soft and included the very pretty violet that seems to be ubiquitous this spring. I looked for it and it really had flown off the shelf- gone. I was definitely intrigued.
Anyways, the short blog story is that I got two pens eventually (a purple/brown one and light grey/charcoal grey one) and I was disappointed. I always find that drug store brands never pigment their eye products enough and this one in particular was quite slippery on the lid. If you are still inclined to try it out, prime your lid with a concealer and use a eyeshadow brush or liner brush to layer on the colours until you get the right amount (this will also help make sure you apply it in the right part of the lid with some amount of precision). If you have translucent powder, you could even set it. However, if you were hoping to look like Drew Barrymore in one quick swipe, orchid eyelids and all- I'd say skip this one. You can check out the webinar on smoky-eyes (the the right of the blog) if you have not already for technique tips.
Well, that is my beauty sleuthing skills at their best. If you would like me to try something out, just write in and their is a very good chance I might.
All the Beauty Best,
Sara Dudley
